State of Florida Programs

Center for Prevention Workforce Development

The CPWD serves Florida’s prevention professionals through training, technical assistance and resource development.  This website provides the most current, state-of-the-art information on training events, news from the field, products and publications, and links to relevant websites.

Department of Business and Professional Regulation Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco
The Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco licenses the alcoholic beverage and tobacco industries, collects and audits taxes and fees paid by the licensees, and enforces the laws and regulation of the alcoholic beverage and tobacco industries, pursuant to Chapter 210, Chapters 561-565 and Chapters 567-569 of Florida Statutes.

Florida Higher Education (FHE) Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP)
FHE ASAP’s mission is to reduce substance abuse in Florida’s college-student population by coordinating the prevention efforts of colleges and universities throughout the state. The coalition advocates for stronger prevention policies, helps organize campus community partnerships, and helps members of the coalition develop science-based prevention programs.

Florida Prevention System Document  
The Florida Drug Control Strategy aligns the prevention efforts of the Departments of Education, Health, Juvenile Justice, Children and Families and other key agencies and organizations.

Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association

Responsible Beverage Alcohol Service Program  
The SafeStaff® Responsible Beverage Alcohol Service Program gives Florida’s licensed beverage
alcohol vendors the knowledge, confidence and resources to anticipate and react successfully and responsibly when serving beverage alcohol.

Florida Students Against Destructive Decisions (FL SADD) program  
Coordinated by the Florida Peer Education office, this office emphasizes traffic safety issues, including underage drinking and impaired driving, and addresses issues related to drug use and abuse.

Florida Substance Abuse and Mental Health Corporation  
This office oversee the state’s publicly funded substance abuse and mental health services.  It is charged with making recommendations annually to the Governor and the Legislature on policies designed to improve coordination and effectiveness of the state’s publicly funded mental health and substance abuse systems.

Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey (FYSAS)  
FYSAS assesses the risk and protective factors of substance abuse and the prevalence and current usage of middle and high school students in Florida.  Survey results and data are available for state, district and county levels.
